About the event

The Mack Floyd Jr. Honors in Education Award is given to recognize educators and community workers who have shown tremendous dedication to serving in various ways throughout their careers. Recipients are chosen based on their initiative to perform the service, the community's need for the service performed, the creativity used to solve a problem, and the impact of the service on the community.

We are honored to have Keisha Browder, the CEO of United Way of Santa Cruz County in California, as our guest speaker. With two decades of experience in community development, education, youth success, and philanthropy across the United States, she has raised funds successfully for local, regional, and national organizations. Browder leads the country's longest-serving Community Assessment Project and other initiatives that have been nationally recognized for their equity-focused approach to promoting healthy cultures. Additionally, she is an active community volunteer.

Meet Marjorie Craig, a distinguished recipient of the Mack Floyd Jr. Honors in Education Award and an accomplished Founder, President, and Health Mission Coordinator of Help Kenyan Children Survive and Thrive, Inc. With over a decade of clinical expertise in pediatric, medical, and public health nursing, Marjorie is a pro when it comes to treating acute and chronic communicable diseases, tuberculosis, and various health conditions. Her 2 years of teaching experience in nursing, combined with her unparalleled 23 years of counseling experience at San Jose State University, further amplify her nursing background. For the past 9 years, she has been volunteering as the director of an international Health and Hygiene Education program for Kenyan children, tirelessly striving to improve the health of underprivileged and at-risk children through education and training. Marjorie's ultimate goal is to provide training to parents and strengthen community leadership to better serve the needs of the children. With Marjorie's expertise and experience, it's no wonder she's making such a positive impact in the world.
